Meet the Spa Team – Introducing Haley Mantell

For our next instalment in the Meet the Team series, we’d like to introduce you to our Technical Instructor for Spa and Wellness, Haley Mantell.

Haley works tirelessly to ensure our customers have the best experience when they visit the spa and works closely with our students to help prepare them for their career progression. She’s taken a moment away from her busy schedule to tell us a bit more about her role at the Devonshire Spa and give us some expert insight into her favourite treatments and hottest beauty products!

When did you join the Devonshire Spa team?

In a way it feels like I never left. I actually studied at the University of Derby and graduated in 2010. Whilst I was at University, I used to work in the Spa, much like our students do today, carrying out treatments, advising our clients and working in the reception. I returned to the Spa team in 2013 as a full time employee, where I’m now a Technical Instructor for Spa and Wellness.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities at the Devonshire Spa?

The role is hugely varied and no two days are ever the same. My role as technical instructor allows me to work closely with the academic team at the University, as well as the Devonshire Spa team to ensure our students have the opportunity to gain practical experience to complement their lectures.

What’s your favourite treatment?

Oh, I have a couple. As a therapist, my favourite treatment for guests is our [ comfort zone ] Pro-Sleep treatment. The massage focuses on three different sensorial pathways; olfactive, tactile auditory to provide the ultimate relaxation. Infused with sweet orange, vetiver, rose and cedar wood the oil helps to gently soothe and relax the body and it also smells delicious – which is a bonus!

But if I’m treating myself (and we all should from time to time), I love the [ comfort zone ] Hydramemory Facial. The three-stage mask is infused with hyaluronic acid, apple and lentil and leaves skin feeling hydrated, nourished and visibly brighter.

What’s your ‘go to’ beauty product?

This is a tough one, I love so many, but the product I can’t live without at the moment is [ comfort zone ]’s Essentials Mascara. My usual mascara would always run and leave me with black and no one wants panda eyes! The Essentials Mascara gives me longer, thicker, smudge-proof lashes that can easily take me from work, to bar without reapplication. I can’t leave the house without it!

Inside your make-up bag – what are your three favourite products?

To go with my [ comfort zone ] Essentials Mascara, I love Mii’s celestial skin shimmer bronzer and highlighter – quick and easy to apply, it leaves my skin glowing,  perfect for those summer evenings. And, Caudalie’s Beauty Elixer is the perfect addition to any beauty routine. Suitable for all skin types it can be used as a toner, refresher and even as a setting spray (and yes it does work – I’ve tried it)!

When you are not at the Devonshire Spa, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Outside of work, I really enjoy cycling, and by that I mean, I love the feeling of getting up ‘that hill’.  There are some gorgeous areas around Buxton to cycle around and it’s great for releasing stress, boosting my mood and it allows me to spend some much needed time with my family and friends!

My Spa in a sentence…?

There’s really is something for everyone at the Devonshire Spa and I love the feeling I get when I see customers leaving happy after their spa and beauty treatments.
