Devonshire Spa Reopening & Processes – Your Questions Answered

As we welcome guests back to the Devonshire Spa (and my, how we’ve missed you!) we wanted to help put your mind at rest about how the spa will operate in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, explain what procedures we have put in place to help keep you and our staff safe, and how we intend to make your spa visit as relaxing and carefree as it should be.

We have been working hard behind the scenes ever since government guidelines stated that spas could reopen, and as well as deep cleans and a full and thorough risk assessment; we have also put together a list of questions and answers that we ourselves would want to know. We hope this helps put your mind at ease about revisiting the Devonshire Spa in the future, but if there is anything further you wish to know, please don’t hesitate to ask us on our facebook page, or by emailing us at devonshirespa@derby.ac.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

What protective measures are in place for staff and visitors?

Our staff will be in full PPE throughout your visit and treatment, and we have introduced multiple hand sanitiser stations around the spa itself, including at the entrance. We have undertaken an extensive deep clean of the spa premises, facilities and furniture, and have instigated an enhanced cleaning schedule for all common touchpoints such as door handles. Guests are encouraged to practise good hygiene whilst at the spa and to follow the social distancing guidelines when around other guests and therapists.

Do I have to wear a face covering at the spa?

According to the latest guidance, guests to the Devonshire Spa are now required to wear a face covering in beauty and spa areas, however this will not be required for the treatment itself. On arrival, you will be asked to fill out a COVID-19 health questionnaire and we will email all guests one day before your visit with a reminder of all regulations and procedures.

Can I use all the spa facilities?

The sauna, steam room and aroma room are unfortunately not in use right now as we follow the latest government guidance.

Are there any spa treatments I can’t have?

All spa treatments are now available to book with our team of spa therapists. Following the latest government guidelines on 15th August 2020, restrictions were lifted and all beauty services were able to resume.

What will happen when I arrive for my spa treatment?

Guests will be given individual arrival times and unless you are visiting with someone from your household or social bubble, should enter separately. You will be asked to sanitise and fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire upon arrival. Your therapist will give you a tour of the facilities and show you to the changing rooms for you to change, ready for your treatment.

Will the Devonshire Spa be operating at a reduced capacity?

The capacity for the Devonshire Spa is 31 people, which includes staff. This will be controlled through staggered arrival and appointment times.

How can I make payment?

Whilst contactless payment is preferred, you can also pay for your treatment by cash.

I think I have COVID-19. What should I do?

If you have a booking with the Devonshire Spa and are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who is, we ask that you refrain from visiting us at this time and rearrange your booking for a later date.

I had a gift voucher that expired whilst the Devonshire Spa was in lockdown. Can I still use it?

Guests with gift vouchers should get in touch and we will be happy to extend the use-by-date of the voucher. Please call us on 01298 338408 to arrange this.

We hope this answers all of the questions you may have. We understand that this is an unusual time and whilst there will be new procedures and policies to follow whilst visiting the Devonshire Spa, we have tried to make it as welcoming, safe and relaxing as possible to offer our guests an experience as which is as peaceful as ever.

Thank you for your support – we hope to see you soon.

Warm regards,

The Devonshire Spa team
