Spotlight on … Caudalie

If you haven’t discovered the luxurious products and treatments by Caudalie yet, then be sure to make an appointment to visit the Devonshire Spa.

A French skincare brand offering products that are packed with powerful plant-based ingredients, Caudalie’s fascinating story began during the 1993 grape harvest in the vineyards of Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux.

During a meeting with Professor Vercauteren, a world-class specialist in polyphenols, the company’s founder Mathilde Thomas discovered that grapes contain polyphenols which contain the most powerful anti-oxidants in the plant world.

Not only did Mathilde discover that grape extract was hugely beneficial for healthy skin, she also realised that the grapevine sap currently being thrown away after harvesting, was packed full of viniferine which is 62 times more effective than vitamin C. Similarly, grape oil was also discovered to be a magical beauty ingredient as it contains a high level of omega 6 and vitamin E.

Caudalie is renowned for its commitment to creating products that are both environmentally-friendly and which use active plant ingredients derived from vine and grape extracts. Their products are celebrated for their anti-ageing ingredients, ability to enhance cell renewal and restore skin’s youthfulness and firmness using a range of natural elements including grape seed polyphenols, resveratrol and viniferine together with Fairtrade shea butter, organic grape water, plant oils, camomile, balm mint and sage.

CaudalieThe company’s long-standing refusal to use animal products, parabens, mineral oils and other harmful ingredients within its products is supported by its green initiatives including the use of ecological product packaging and reducing CO² emissions and water. You’ll notice that Caudalie uses recycled plastic and plant-based plastic within its beautiful packaging too, using pretty caps made from sustainable ash across its range of face scrubs and masks.

In 1993, Mathilde opened the first Vinothérapie Spa in Bordeaux, France with its very own Vinotherapists who are extensively trained to deliver the ultimate in luxurious, indulgent treatments. A range of exquisite signature therapies were created including the Crushed Cabernet scrub, the Pulp Friction massage, the Honey and Wine Body Wrap and the Vinosource Facial.

Devonshire Spa is now offering a range of these beautiful therapies including Caudalie’s Wine Maker’s Massage, a 60-minute sculpting and energising massage which uses bare hands and pressure on the energy paths to stimulate the entire body from the tips of your fingers to the bottoms of your feet whilst activating blood circulation and muscle tone.

The Crushed Cabernet treatment is a luxurious way to de-stress and you’ll leave with super soft, smooth skin. Incorporating one of the most popular scrubs from Caudalie’s Vinothérapie Spas, the whole body is exfoliated to regain your skin’s radiance and softness, providing optimum opportunity for the skin to absorb all the hydrating ingredients from the accompanying signature sculpting massage using the Contouring Concentrate which stimulates the systems of the body and encourages natural elimination of toxins.

For an extra special treat, spoil your skin with a cocktail – of vitamins! Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Detox uses a deeply energising vitamin cocktail to hydrate, renew, energise and protect the skin. Together with a regenerating aromatherapy facial massage using essential oils, followed by an anti-oxidant mask highly concentrated in pink clays, grape marc and coffee to encourage deep cleansing whilst draining toxins, this facial reduces the visual appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and smooths and protects the skin. Your skin looks plumper, youthful and your complexion smoother and is the perfect facial for those wishing to maintain and protect their skin from the environment and free radical damage.
