How to Glow all Summer Long

Whether you’re enjoying a staycation in the UK or heading somewhere more exotic this summer, it’s the perfect time to re-think your usual beauty routine. Shake things up at home or away with these simple tweaks to save time and give you that coveted summer glow…

 

A clean face is a happy face…

Let’s start with the all-important skincare regime. We can’t stress enough how important it is to cleanse your skin properly at the end of the day and ensure that skin can breathe and renew itself overnight. But let’s face it, when you’ve been at the beach all day and the bar all night, you need a quick and easy solution before you fall into bed!

One of the most popular facial cleansers to use right now is Micellar Water, which contains ‘magnets’ to lift dirt and impurities away from the skin and leave it feeling refreshed, soothed and moisturised in a flash. Simply sweep over your skin with a cotton pad for a refreshing cleanse.


Eye contact…

In the morning, exfoliate your face with a gentle scrub and warm water in the shower to expel impurities and boost circulation, then gently massage in a light moisturiser with gentle upward strokes to reduce puffiness. If a late night has left you looking worse for wear and there’s a hint of dark circles and bags under your eyes, pat cooling eye gel over your eyes for a few minutes or use a gel eye mask straight from the fridge. If you don’t have these to hand, you can also apply a used, cool green tea bag for a rejuvenating boost.


Looking flushed…

A beauty secret that many models and health gurus swear by is to drink warm water with a squeeze of lemon each morning to flush out toxins and fight infections, as well as providing a dose of vitamin C, calcium and potassium. This is a great – and delicious – habit to get into and your skin will thank you for it for years to come.


Be great. Hydrate…

As temperatures soar, it’s easy to get dehydrated and this will show in your skin causing a dull, lacklustre complexion. Get your skin glowing again by drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day. If that seems boring, add a few sprigs of mint, lemon and lime to a large jug or water bottle and let the natural flavours infuse into the water for added zing.


Solid foundations…

Heavy duty foundations work well for the winter months when our skin tends to be dryer, but at this time of year most skin types can get away with a lighter coverage in the form of a tinted moisturiser or BB cream, especially in the day time. If you’re lucky enough to have caught a few rays already, a lighter coverage will allow your natural radiance to shine through. Ideally choose a product with a high factor SPF so you don’t have to use a separate sunscreen product.
