There’s no denying that the Devonshire Dome in Buxton evokes a pretty impressive response from all who see it. Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Peak District, the majestic Grade II Listed building – built in the late 18th century – is a spectacular sight to behold and it has become a much-loved landmark and tourist attraction.
Well known for being part of the Buxton & Leek College and University of Derby real world learning campus, the Devonshire Dome also houses an award-winning Spa, Salon, Café and Restaurant. The Devonshire Dome makes an exquisite location for weddings, large parties and even corporate events. Over the years we’ve been host to many different types of event: from stunning weddings with hundreds of guests, boxing matches, vintage fairs and more – we were even lucky enough to provide the setting for an episode of BBC Question Time.

The large floor space makes it an ideal venue for celebratory events, as we can easily accommodate a generous dance floor, plenty of seating and as we are licensed, a fully staffed bar to keep your guests well hydrated. We offer a variety of menu options to suit your individual tastes and budgets, and our Head Chef and his team keep up to date on menu trends so you can be assured of fresh ingredients and a contemporary twist to your food.
Our friendly events team are happy to advise on options for entertainment, such as DJs, live bands and more, and have a great deal of contacts and suppliers so if there is something in particular you are looking for – be it a bouncy castle, climbing wall or something else to help your party go with a bang – then they most likely know how it can be done.
What makes the Devonshire Dome stand out from other venues is the extraordinary acoustics that the architecture provides. As Europe’s largest unsupported dome, the curvature of the building delivers an auditory experience unlike any other. Simply stand in the centre of the floor, directly underneath the tallest point of the dome to hear a myriad of sounds from all areas. You’ll hear snippets of conversations of people stood 20 metres away from you, as clearly as if they were stood right next to you. It really is a remarkable experience and one not to be missed. Just remember not to spill any secrets whilst you’re there – you never know who may be listening!
